1) Why the name "MultiFaithBook.org"?
"FaithBook" is easy to remember, sounding similar to "Facebook" although it bears no connection and has a completely different meaning to the latter.
"Multi" indicates that it is designed as a neutral platform, freely available to ALL faiths (including those sometimes classified as having "no faith"). However, "AllFaiths" was considered too pretentious, for we might not know all.
"Book" also sounds more human than "Platform", "Catalyst" or "Information Exchange". And it is meant to convey the message that we provide blank, i.e. neutral, pages for "authors" to fill with information on their events which we then make available to "readers" in a searchable format. You can also post your comments, opinions, stories or images in the forum.
2) Is MultiFaithBook.org a religious Web site?
NO, certainly NOT. For a start "Religion" and "Faith" have different meanings. And MultiFaithBook.org’s main purpose is to facilitate better mutual understanding on a personal level between individuals of different backgrounds, be the difference in culture, civilisation, ethnic origins and traditions and/or philosophy and faiths.
However, the reason we have chosen to call ourselves MultiFaithBook is not only that it flows better in pronunciation and sounds less academic than e.g. MultiCulture (too close to Horticulture?) or MultiCivilisation.
Using "faith" also follows the practical reasoning that overall (with many exceptions) and statistically common faith, in whatever form, still appears to be the prevalent binding element within most communities.
3) Do I have to pay to post or search for events?
No, the use of MultiFaithBook.org is absolutely free for all users.
4) Can anyone attend the events posted on MultiFaithBook.org?
Yes, the whole point is for communities to get in touch and interact, exchanging information and opening doors to visit each other’s cultures. Access to some events can however be restricted by space availability. Therefore always best to check online with the event organisers/hosts.
